via Stickmonkey
So my snitches have passed along a few bits.

Up next for 40k sounds like may timeframe for a chaos codex. Rumored to expand upon 4 major legions.
New plastics
Chaos dread.
New plastic raptors
New plastic plague bearers
New character sculpts, not sure if abaddon is included...

I think most if not all of this has been mentioned before.

On top of this, I'm hearing there will be a few blister releases for other armies between now and summer. Even with WFB likely to take the spotlight in April, I'm being told to expect 2-3 blisters for 40k.

Likely candidates include missing characters for Nids, Necrons, DE. All of which have sculpts ready.

4 Legions being expanded upon:
Emporers children
Death guard
World eaters
Thousand sons

But that's not all that's in the book from what I hear. And the conflict in what I've heard is that they expanded upon the 4 chaos gods, or they expanded upon the 4 legions devoted to those specific gods, so I'm not certain which is true right now, if either.

I have heard from many sources traitor guard and others are in the book, but nothing close enough for me to have a lot of faith yet there.

No words on another dex, but as Abaddon is in the dex, I expect all 9 legions to be covered somehow.

I want to clarify, I don't know this release slot is May. Seems like a lot of people grabbing onto that. Only that its likely the next release "slot" that could be a 40k window. But the rumors I'm getting are that this chaos release is next up. Next up could be October for all I know. But I suspect sooner.

I'm also confirming a 6e winging it's way our direction.

Past few major editions have followed the model of hb rulebook in June/July and box set in September. If I recall fantasy and 40k had no accompanying models to the hb release. But did have a ton of gaming accessories.

I've got another bit on the rb/starter. Not sure where this fits, but I've got some new info on "emplacements" (their word) being part of 6th and a kit (or kits) being developed. No other details. could be another bastion style model. Could be something else entirely. One rumor I'm hearing consistently is that the amount of effort being put into cranking out fantasy terrain is getting focused towards 40k to show it some more love.

via StraightSilver
Everything SM says matches up to rumours I have, except the Chaos Dex could be May or June, with 6th Edition around about July.

I can't go into detail about special characters but there will be a couple coming that I know of around the same time as 6th Edition.

40k will get a fair bit of stuff this year, but expect it to be more of a trickle than a downpour.

I have heard there will be more releases than usual models wise, but they will be small releases to keep interest up for the whole of the 25th anniversary year.

I don't know if that means small waves every month for 12 months, or a blister or two each month but there should apparently be more than enough to keep all 40K players happy.

Darnok recently brought some rumors to the table regarding Chaos, saying the codex is “done and almost at the printers” whatever that means.

He also spoke of a few miniatures we can expect to see, including an Iron Warriors character with servo harness, possible new Obliterators, and plastic Plaguebearers on round bases. What with 75hastings69's recent denial of Plaguebearers in the starter set, it is possible these are a full plastic kit.

Darnok also said that painted versions of all four Cult Terminators have been sighted, but said they could have been conversions. These could have been made with the sprues other rumours have mentioned.

theDarkGeneral told us new Chaos Bikes and the New Dread have been spotted by GW Memphis staff, who claim these plastic kits have lots of bits.

They also apparently have a pdf of some sort and say it "screams death and carnage"

The bikes were confirmed as being new, not recut, and the Dread was described as a "crazy spikey combat dread"

theDarkGeneral also implied that there may be an additional heavy weapon upgrade for Chaos units, but was supposedly told it's not a Plasma Cannon

ant1clock told us his local GW told his that the Thousand Sons kit is no longer available because they are moving to Finecast. It is unclear if this means a new, all Finecast kit, or if the metal components will move to FC.

via Ruthven
GW just put that picture up on their facebook and now I can't find it anymore, it is still up on their Flikr account at the moment... Can anyone tell me what the Nid thing with all the things coming out of its head just to the lright of the question mark is? I can't find any model that looks like it in their model range or on forgeworld. New Nid model hidden in plain sight?

via Kroothawk
we had some speculation on what changes might happen to the GW policy towards independent store . This week, GW started to officially inform them, so it is not speculation anymore. I think these changes are worldwide (with some of it already implemented in USA for years), but I can only be sure for Europe currently. Changes start beginning this week, but are fully implemented only starting June. I use personal translation from German names and only estimates for prices, as they vary between countries.

1.) There are online-stores (including stores with mainly online-sales) and normal retailers that don't want to become a "GW stockist outlet" (or for some reasons don't qualify). The following doesn't apply to them.

2.) If you want to become a "GW stockist outlet" (abreviated "stockist" from now on), you have to commit yourself to stock about 50 different basic plastic boxes (2 each) from a list. The list includes the starter boxes, the paint starter boxes, mostly one standard from all Fantasy races, one or two boxes for each 40k faction (4 for Space Marines). You have to restock these at least once per month and send GW a check list proving your stock. This is the basis for becoming a GW stockist and is called "Module 1". It includes basic commitments for GW support like being listed in WD as stockist, being allowed to order "direct only" products (max 650€ per month) etc. GW grants you 260 € per year for products used in promotion, terrain and tournaments, but it can also be used to send back unsalable products (Dreadfleet ). More modules increase that amount, but may be subject to GW's approval. Weekly orders remain, but no minimum order. Keeping and reporting the stock is the only requirement, failing to do so may let you lose the status of a GW stockist (see 1).

3.) The other modules are not yet implemented, but should be June latest. Module 2 includes basic accessories including a selection of paints. Module 3 includes WD and new releases. Module 4 includes an extension of module 1 and covers about 200 products like army books, heroes, monsters, selected after popularity. Module 5 includes the complete paint range and even more hobby products. Each module includes a fixed list of products you have to stock and report once per month (in case of module 4 once half a year). The lists are reviewed and updated by GW February and June. You can (and usually will) of course stock more GW products, but those are extra and don't need to be reported. Each store can freely chose what modules he wants, only module 1 is required for being a GW stockist. Module 2 increases your allowance by another 260 € (see 2), Module 3 by 130 €, Module 4 by 585 €, Module 5 by 195 € (allowances by Module 3-5 need GW approval for what you can get). Allowance is for one year and expires each end of May. These allowances are what was called "free product support policy" in the other thread.

4.) The policy includes more rules and technicalities including who can get free GW racks, who is offered limited items first, how to get painting-promo-packs and tournament-packs (including trophies) and other promo stuff.

All in all, the policy change sounds reasonable. The stock requirements also seem easy to fulfill (well, not everyone will have 2 of each basic box) and are less restricting than it sounds at first. Not sure how time consuming the reporting is, if you have more than just one module. Good to see more free product support (as folks in USA already enjoy).

Called local GW manager today to see if they got their latest shipment, he said it was postponed for about a month due to 'some new releases'.

I asked what those were and he said 'Space wolf thunderwolf cavalry, new tyranid models, more Necrons and VC'.

I know this isn't 100% confirmation but I thought I'd share..

via Archibald_TK
I thought they were supposed to be released later than that. I checked my own order form and I realize it shows weird dates, order date 28/01 release date 25/02, something is not right on my sheet. What about yours as I understand you have the release dates in the UK?

via xxRavenxx
You are entirely right. They are all pencilled in for 25th feb. I didn't notice because I'm now just used to not being told up front about things :P

Original Rumor
via xxRavenxx
A new set of boxed sets are being released this week, offering a saving of nearly £10, which is nice to see. Otherwise not terribly exciting stuff, as its just reboxing. Interesting to see no Tau or Eldar box there though.

Space Marines & Drop Pod - £35.
Imperial Guard Cadians & Chimera - £30
Chaos Space Marines & Chaos Rhino - £35.
Ork Boyz & Trukk - £30

11 figure box.
All are, except the orks who are 12.
I cannot tell you if it is a tactical squad proper (Though I suspect it is) or two combat squad sprues.

More Information about the poster
xxRavenxx is a store owner, so he will have recieved this info so he knows what he can order to sell.

http://www.thelordinquisitor.com/blog/story-writer-lord-inquisitor/
The main story writer for The Lord Inquisitor is Aaron Dembski -Bowden, well known for his Warhammer 40.000 novels for the Black Library and Horus Heresy:) This is of course so cool, I don’t know what else to write – and there is probably no need for that;)

http://www.thelordinquisitor.com/blog/born-free/
Games Workshop decided to finally give me the 100% green light for this project and now this project is totally free and don’t has to hide anymore:) The Emperor listened to our prayers and made the impossible possible: The first allowed fan movie for Warhammer 40.000:) So tomorrow I go to my local GW store and buy something haha, just to support them, and you should do the same; buy lots of Torquemada figures:)

Concerning Chaos:

the book is done and almost at the printers
an Iron Warriors character (?) has been seen, with a huge servo harness
possible new Obliterators (plastic or Finecast?)
painted versions of all 4 cult terminators have been sighted - could be conversions though
plastic Plaguebearers on round bases have been sighted

The already "known" Necron wave was confirmed: 2 flyers, the big walker, the jet bikes, Wraiths and Spiders. I quote: "The wraiths and spiders did NOT look like a dual kit".

Another interesting quote:
Quote:
There ware also a few Nids ready to go, the Tervigon/Tyranofex dual kit and a flyer that I wasn't familiar with, looked about lictor sized but more resembled a winged zoanthrope.
There ware also a few Nids ready to go, the Tervigon/Tyranofex dual kit and a flyer that I wasn't familiar with, looked about lictor sized but more resembled a winged zoanthrope.
Confirms the usual suspects - but the other beasty sounds like the Parasite of Mortex to me, not the Harpy.

And last, but definetely not least: more flyers seem to be in the works, including an Ork Fighter! It seemed to be very similar to the FW version. No specific mention of a timeframe was given - expect it sometime the next six months.

The usual disclaimer: while I trust my birdies, you don't have to. Please don't take any of this as gospel.

http://www.3plusplus.net/2012/01/update-on-6th-edition-leak.html

Ya because a broken ruleset and lack of balance was fun... Regardless of what you think of them, they are unfinished and still have glaring holes in them. Please, create an underground following for this ^^. (and yes if these were, or are real, we will deal with it when it comes)

Anyway, whilst this is supposedly confirming the fakeness of said leak in relation to what we can expect from 6th edition, we still don't have actual proof though I wouldn't be surprsied if this was correct.

So...no new stats, no superheavies, no assault before shooting and no news on the terrible concept of who goes first and stratgems...oh joy. Yet of course one of the recent books will love 6th edition because it was 'designed for it.' Construct validity a bit lacking there but one can hope (particularly if they aren't actually going to FAQ everything).

Ну, и ответ судьи GW на вопрос могут ли десмарки поставить маркер на другой отряд после редеплоя: "Yes but the previous marked unit is lost" (GW).

via Bramgaunt
Just to be clear about it: There is a planed 40k event in late febuary, but I was told that there was no actual release associated with it. Therefor I assumed that the Tyranid-wave will be first saturday of march. Same day as the 40k event is the release of the 25 years of Warhammer 40k White Dwarf, and it would be the day preorders started. Now, a world-wide 40k happening with staffers going nuts over Tyranid and Necron Preorders sounds exactly like something GW would do.

Also, I'd be more than happy to be wrong about the "nothing but LotR in feb" part, but I think LotR players deserve a month of their own =)

Since White Dwarfs should be on their ways right now I expect pictures to show up soon, anyway.

A follow up via Bramgaunt
Feb issue should be on it's ways now, as it's released this saturday.

Again, I am not dead certain that there is nothing 40k related in feb, but my sources have been very specific. These ones have been accurate so far, I just pass on the information. Again, we will see in a couple of days. (Or, with the current WD leaks, more likely in the next 24 hours.)

Apparently someone has claimed on 4chan that the leak is actually their gameclub's homebrew rules, which a member gave a 'GW' look to. Must have plenty of time on their hands!

There's even a report that the person who made it recently got in touch with GW Legal to see if there was any liability on their part. The guys from GW informed him that as it wasn't an official GW product he was fine!

If this is true I'd hate to be those people who, thinking it was the new 6th Ed., had started buying units for armies to use with these rules.

-------------------------------

I again here mention from my GW buddies in Memphis, that sets of sprues that are Legion specific will finally come! Chaos of course being the first sets, though i'm told Terminator and regular Space Marine sprues will be sold separately. Once the Chaos Legions sprues hit, the Legions/Chapters still dedicated to the throne of Terra shall follow.

Chaos Space Marines will receive a boxed set, with ALL the needed option upgrades included for standard gear, and new sets for Berzerkers, Noise Marines, Plague Marines and Thousand Sons will follow with MUCH nicer sculpts.

So basically, all the Legions will buy the same boxed set for the majority of their models, but to make them Legion specific, separate sprues will be sold which will include shoulder pads, heads, banners, few weapons, etc. Terminators will also get separate sprues made available to them to become Legion specific.

Warhammer 40k: 25th Anniversary Model

via tristessa

I was told today that there is going to be a 40k 25th Anniversary Model released on the 25th of February - like Harry the Hammer it will only be available for that weekend and will be in finecast.

Sadly I have no more details beyond that, so if you have an idea of what it is let me know! I am most curious indeed, especially given the nostalgic throwback of the Games Day model this year...

via SantaSanta
This is from a reliable source:
Starcannons are Strength 7, AP2, Assault 2 now.

via shaso_iceborn
I have heard more from my source about the percentage thing, apparently like fantasy you get so much per points level, so example (though just example not exact) you get 1+ hq, 2+ troops, 0-1 heavy, 0-1 fast, and 0-1 elite for the first 1000pnts with 1 being added to each for every slot for each additional 500 points.

via Drakeus
There is a rumour in the air that Dark Reapers are going to have EML's instead of Dark Reaper Launchers (heard in GW Hobbystore from the manager). If that is true, we will have a decent boost for them!

via Hellebore (not a rumor, but comments on Reapers in 2nd edition)
Missile launchers are what Dark Reapers USED to carry in 2nd ed. They were using full on missile launchers that could fire pretty much any type of missile you wanted if you upgraded them - they were 67 pts each with frag/krak and could pay 5pts per additional missile type - melta, plasma and anti plant.

So for 82 points (a tactical marine was 30) you could have a T3 3+ sv model with every missile under the sun. Squad size was 3-7.

Currently you can only get up to FIVE reapers in a unit so i really fail to see how giving them back their missile launchers would be a bad thing. That's not much different to having a devastator squad with 4 missile launchers, and more fragile at T3.

What it will do is turn dark reapers into what they were, long range vehicle destroyers that could also destroy some heavy infantry and light infantry. If you gave them EML then that would really halve their MEQ killing power, plasma missiles won't really cut it and they only fire 1 krak each.

Doesn't seem that bad to me. I would really hate it if they invented a whole new aspect just to the fill the role dark reapers originally filled in the first place. Just seems totally unnecessary. It would be like giving assault marines bolters and then making a new marine squad called an 'attack squad' that had chainsword and bolt pistol. Pointless.

via theDarkGeneral
Just one more thing i've heard...

*Chosen Chaos Marines: Definitely getting a lot more upgrade options! They'll get costly quickly depending upon your Legion, and what kind of wargear and armor they take. Jump packs, Terminator Armor, all combis, dual lightning claws, etc. Lots of options, but again, you'll be paying the points for them. AND, not sure on this part, but it was mentioned that specific HQ choices can take a Chosen squad as a retinue/bodyguard to free up their normal Force Org Chart slot selection. That'd be nice!

Just a reminder, there are Word Bearers that indeed do follow a mono-god theme, and oddly enough (not really) it tends to be Khorne. The Sanctified are a great documentation of this, so I could see some (not all) of the Legions gaining a free unit champ for Chosen Numbered units, but the equipment of course would have to be paid for!

If, as I here, in the new 6th Edition rules you'll be able to direct some attacks, or excess wounds to specific models, it might not mean much anyways...

Apparently this is the big "new kit" to accompany the updated Codex:Space Marines.

-The term "Space Marine Gunship" has been mentioned.
-It's NOT the Stormraven
-It's NOT the Caestus Assault Ram
-Its NOT an "assault themed" vehicle
-There are whispers of that ancient bit of fluff regarding the "missing link transport" Astartes vehicle.

Think about the existing Space Marine vehicle range to see where the obvious holes are if you were in charge of designing a range of fighting vehicles for the Astartes.

Also note that for the first time ever for an Edition changeover, the Space Marine range may be kind of challenging to expand upon in a big way due to its existing size and almost 100% plastic status.

There are a few misc thing floating around about a new allied race for the Tau. The rumors state that these units will not be available right away, which means we will see some converting going on upon release if the rumor holds true. The second little snippet is a rumor with some concept pics displaying a Vespid Heavy (or something close to).

These are rumors, so please take with a grain of salt.

We have another snippet from Ghost about the other new alien race who don't look like they'll be appearing at release; Not Zoats (despite them coming back to WFB in Storm of Magic) but they may be 6-limbed.

via Ghost21
one of those is close to the vespid heavy
